Dubuque, Iowa A long-range, forward-thinking campus plan for Loras College was developed by Saiki Design in collaboration with key stakeholders from Loras College and architects from IIW. The plan and report included recommendations for immediate building and landscape development projects and established an approach for future projects to ensure they align with the established visions and goals of the campus plan.

Saiki Design led a rigorous process of inventory and analysis, facilitating focus groups with students, faculty, staff and the steering committee. The result was a well-rounded campus plan that included immediate priorities and future-focused solutions. Landscape architects at Saiki Design created a set of “Landscape Design Guidelines” to aid in the implementation process for landscape focused projects. The guidelines focused on materials standards, site furnishings, walkways, entrances, sustainability strategies and planting. The guidelines provide a tangible list of design strategies to implement throughout the campus, show casing Loras’s identity and achieving their recognized vision.

Saiki Design was retained to work on additional site-specific design challenges to create a more welcoming entry and picturesque patio space at Keane Hall and to transform a surface parking lot into a flexible courtyard and gathering space between the Binz and Beckman Residence Halls.
